Making Progress!

Sam is very sensitive to food textures and smells.  We try to play with food as much as possible so he'll get used to it.  He is really good at sucking on marshmallows now (building towers too).  We are so proud of him because last night he tried sucking on a pea.  Baby steps, folks.  That's progress.

One Fine Day

Samuel has been enjoying his abundance of puzzles that he has both borrowed and been given.  They're great for me because he can be attached to the pump for a good 30 minutes before he's ready to move onto something new.  No more chasing Sam through the house with a pump on a pole.  He has started to resist the feeding tube because it limits his freedom of mobility.  It's nice to find an entertaining activity that keeps him in one spot for awhile.  He was "free" from the feeding tube on this day.

As soon as we finished the puzzle he got down to give the fireman a kiss.  He's sweet like that.

Baby and Mommy/Daddy puzzles (thank you Aunt Sarah)

I thought that I might be able to fold laundry while he was distracted.  Wrong.  He dumped out all three baskets and jumped into the pile.

New Milestone - Sam can put on his own pants. again and again and again.  Sometimes he wears three pairs.

Leif

We found a new pet for Sam!  His name is Leif.  He flew through our living room window one night, and we let him go the next day.  Sam didn't want to touch him.

He was way more into the pumpkin, which he hugged and kissed in the store.

Dress-Ups

Samuel is learning how to dress himself in the mornings.  He does a really good job when he wears large Daddy shirts.

Bee + Sam

It's not uncommon for two or three bees to hang out around Sam while we're outside (they like the smell of his medications).  On Tuesday morning one bee finally stung him right outside the library.  I feared this day would come.  Sam handled it much better than I did.  He cried for almost five seconds and was over it.  I tried to get him to put ice on his eye but he refused.  Bee stings < blood tests.

Sam, you're so brave.
